Little hero’s attempt to make rasam powder using mortar & pestle

Everyday we face powercut but today while I was all set to grind rasam powder, then faced a power cut.

I had shared stories with my son about my mom and my grandma ,how they used to grind spices in ammikallu (grindstones) and they did not have mixie those days at home.

We don’t have ammikallu at home but my little hero wished to grind spices using mortar &pestle as he wanted to try like his grandma and great grandmother.

I gave him in very small quantities which was sufficient to prepare rasam for two people. We talked a lot during the process.A good exposure for little hero to know how our ancestors used to cook tasty and healthy food since he loves cooking. Finally ,we prepared rasam together.

Hindi letter recognition -Game

We played another game to get familiarised with hindi letters. We had few colourful balls and I sticked dotstickers on the balls.

I had kept box at a distance. When I say the letter ,child had to pick up the correct ball with letter and throw it inside the box.It was super fun playing together.

At end ,we counted the balls in hindi from 1 to 10.

Hindi letters recognition

Little hero will be introduced hindi language this year.To get him familiarised with letters,we played a game as he loves anything related to game.

We are from non hindi background but I do remember hindi to some extent as I studied in school and trying to recall it as it’s long gap.Even I will be learning along with my son.

I had three bisleri bottles and wrote अ to अ:
In dotstickers and sticked it on the bottles. As soon as I say the letter, child had to hit the bottle with correct letter using the ball.

While writing in dotstickers,he observed the letters ,Initially we played it in order as it was first time ,then to move next level,I randomly kept the bottles.

Overall it was fun learning.
