1.Heart tree -Finger painting

The image of tree was taken from clip art,I found it while husband was searching for some papers.

I asked my child to use his index finger and paint it in form of heart shape.

2.Paper Punch heart

I got this idea from Pinterest.Very often we do this at home with various shapes.

I asked the child to punch holes in heart using the punching machine.

3.Paper clip heart

This idea was again from Pinterest.I asked the child to put paper clips to the punched heart paper

4.Sensory Art

I asked the child to draw heart, apply glue in the outer and inner portion of heart.Sprinkle Rava all over the heart, remove excess rava.

Then using inkfiller,he was to told drop red water colour on rava.He loved this very much.

5.Caterpillar heart

He loves writing his name.I asked him to cut heart using scissors and do it in form of caterpillar and write his name in each heart.

6.Colour paper heart

This was another interesting and simple one.The child had to tear colour paper .Apply fevicol and stick colour papers on heart.

7.Magnifying glass

Another fun activity which is all time favourite of my son.I asked him to draw large medium small heart in paper and asked him to observe the difference with and without magnifying glass.

A Colourful play with monkeys

Today we played game with monkeys which holded good for sensory and fine motor skills.

A.Colourful chickpeas

We have played with coloured rice, rava, pasta but never thought to do with chickpeas.I recently saw a post by Neha Khanna about coloured chickpeas in her group .I loved the idea.Thank you Neha Khanna.

How we did:

I asked the child to cut the chickpeas packet using scissor. Then to pour it in bowl.Asked him to use scoop and fill it in zip lock bags.He added food colours of his choice like orange, blue, red, green, brown. Then shaked it nicely. After few minutes ,our colourful chick peas were ready for our game.We are planning to create more game with chickpeas.

B.A colourful play with monkeys

A zoo keeper was searching for monkeys in the jungle so that he can keep them in zoo.Little hero informed monkeys and all monkey hided under colourful chick peas in the jungle. But few couldn’t find place to hide. Finally how little hero helped monkeys to climb the tree was the game.

1 .First, the monkeys were hided under colourful chick peas. The monkey size is very small and the child has to find it through the sensory bin.

2.Secondly,few monkeys got caught in hands of zoo keeper. The child assumed him to be zoo keeper, need to tie monkey in popsicle stick using rubber hand. This helps in developing fine motor skill.

3.Thirdly,the child need to save the monkey by removing rubber hand and help them from zoo keeper.

4.Fourthly,we utilised a tree which is part of game tumbling monkeys which comes in four part of tree.

The child need to fix it and insert sticks from one hole to another as branches and put monkeys one by one on the tree .This helps in developing fine motor skills , concentration, balancing, hand eye coordination.

The game ended when little hero made all the monkeys to climb the tree.

“Son ❤❤Dad”

We have used popsicle sticks in various ways but never attempted to do painting on popsicle sticks. After seeing post of Revathi Saravanakumar,we thought to give a try on painting popsicle sticks.Thank you very much dear Revathi.

When we were discussing, what to paint on popsicle sticks,my son came out with idea to do shapes and he wanted to do circle and heart.

So,we started with heart. With my help,he sticked cello tape on bunch of sticks as border ,then he started to paint heart on icecream sticks .He wanted to gift this to his dad as a surprise when he comes back home from office. He wrote Appa (Dad ).

A beautiful gift for dad from son is ready with loads of love. But mummy heart couldn’t resist and thought not to ask .

Suddenly he gave a hug and kiss to Mumma and said I love you amma.Never knew he could do mind reading❤❤

Mystery animal -wheat dough game

We had remaining dough after preparing animal chapati. So,we played a detective game using the remaining dough.

Different types of animals has to be hided inside the dough by covering properly. The detective will find out the animal and save the animal.

2.Interrogation of animals

Those animals which were found inside dough were interrogated. The detective has to spot the differences and similarities between two animals.

For example : Between Zebra and cow.

3.Animal foot prints

The dough was flattened.Detective took foot print of all animals and was investigating the foot prints of animals.

4.Walking on the bridge

A bridge was constructed and all the animals were made to walk on the bridge after investigation do that they reach the jungle safely.

We played this game using all the animals at home and it was interesting.

Animal chapati – cooking by little hero

My little hero is always fond of cooking.Today he was very interested to do something of his own in cooking. So,I suggested him with this idea.

This was super cool. All you need is wheat dough and animal cookie cutters.

He just took some help in kneading the dough and frying in tava was under my supervision.

By involving kids in cooking creates interest towards food ,attracts to eat if the food looks appealing, encourages self feeding.I am following this technique since he was a toddler and it works for me.

Leafy elephant

Today,we had few mango leaves,we did leaf etching. Then I remembered post of Revathi Saravanakumar sharing about leaf art in another group.I loved her idea.Thank you Revathi for amazing idea.My special thanks to her as I never thought about it.

Facebook can be boon or bane, its in our hands how we utilise it.I am inspired by several of them through fb,glad to be connected with lots of kind hearted people, gained good friends, several ideas .Everyday ,I am learning something new through Facebook.

By using mango leaves,my son did mummy elephant and baby elephant. He used black water colour for eyes.

This was very interesting to him,he still wanted to do more animals but we don’t have leaves at home. With whatever leaves available,he made elephant. He has given long list of animals that he would like to do using leaves.

Leaf Etching

Today,we had few mango leaves at home and then to  utilise it ,we did leaf etching.

Leaf etching is nothing but the impression of leaf on paper. All you need is any fresh leaves, sheet of paper, watercolours.

Ask the child to paint the leaves and place it on paper and rub the leaf in order to get impression.

Beautiful leaf art is ready. It would be pretty quick, you can use different colours and different types of leaves to make it colourful.Kids will enjoy it for sure.

Electro Game

Eventhough we don’t have much toy collections but I do grab if I find something interesting. One of such game is Electro.

The highlight of this game is if the answer is right, the bulb flashes the light. It works on battery. This game has lots of sheets on various topics. My son loves playing with it and today he played with animals. The quality is ok according to the price. Eventhough it is not up to my expectation but it easily engages the child for quite long time.

Learning using Paint brush

Last week,I shared how we used qtip in our learning.Similarly we use our paintbrush too.

Many of them sent me a personal message asking when did I introduce writing. To be honest,I didnot introduce any writing to him at home, the credit will go purely to his teachers. All we did was lots of scribbling using various materials.

His teachers has introduced my child to phonics and writing at school.I always focus mostly on practical life skills. He is learning small letters at school ,so we learnt it in our style using paint brush.

Either parent or child can write on slate.Ask the child to dip the paint brush in water and trace over the letter. It is same like our qtip method.

You can use the same technique for learning patterns, shapes, letters and numbers too.It helps to understand the pattern to write and best part is kids would enjoy doing as the letter vanishes while they trace.
